Solving Rational Equations Algebraically

Today we started with a group activity on determining the rational function with the given graph. Here is a copy of the graphs along with the solution.  determine rational function

We also discussed solving rational equations algebraically.  solve rational eqn notes

Lastly, there was a hand-in assignment given out in class today.  This assignment is due on Tuesday, March 3rd.  hand in assign rational function

Reminder:  Test for Radical and Rational Functions is on Tuesday, March 3.  You may refer to the review questions from the workbook.

Have a great weekend!  See you all on Monday.

Lesson 4 Identifying Characteristics of Rational functions Ex 1-2

Welcome! We had a long class talking about characteristics of rational functions.  We defined what rational function is and some of its properties: non-permissible values, vertical asymptote, horizontal asymptote, coordinates of the hole (point of discontinuity), domain and range.

For Homework, please try page 104 Questions 1-3.

Please note:  our radical and rational functions and equations unit test will be on, Tuesday, March 3rd.

The notes and the video are on the links below.

Lesson 1 and 2 Graph of Radical Functions

Today we started with group work with each group working on Lesson 1.  Then we discussed Lesson 2 which involved graphing the square root of linear, quadratic and cubic functions.  We also looked at invariant point(s), domain and range of the functions.  The notes and the video are on the links below.

HW:  Please complete pg 90 questions 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and Multiple choice 1 and 2.

Feb. 14th Agenda

Today we spent time on reviewing for our Polynomials Unit Test on Tuesday, Feb. 18th.

For review materials, you may use the Review questions and the Practice Test questions at the end of Chapter.

Reminder:  There is no school on Monday, Feb. 17th due to Louis Riel Day.  Have a great weekend and see you again on Tuesday!

Agenda for Feb. 13th

Today we spent some time going over some provincial exam questions and working on the review questions on pages 72-77.  It was surely time well spent.

Homework:  Please make sure to complete the review from the book.  You may also work on the practice test on pages 78-80.

Reminder:  Polynomials unit test is on Tuesday, Feb. 18th.

Lesson 6 Modelling and Solving Polynomial Functions

Today we finished all of the lessons on Polynomial Functions.  The notes and the videos are on the links below.  You will also find the answer to the handout “More Practice with Polynomial Functions” that was given yesterday.

Reminder:  Polynomial Functions Unit test is on Feb. 18th.  Make sure you do not miss the test.
