Chapter 6 Lesson 1 Trig Ratio for any Angle in Standard Position

Hello everyone! Yesterday, we had our Exponential and Logarithm Unit Test.  Please make sure to hand in your test electronically today.

Today we will start chapter 6 which talks about Unit Circle.  We will connect everything that we have studied in Pre-Calculus 20S and Pre-Calculus 30S.  And all of the concepts that we will learn in this chapter, we will then apply and connect with the graphs of trigonometric functions found in Chapter 7.

Here is our livestream key for today:  https://youtu.be/4pPrA3R-OA8

Here are the notes that we wrote today:  Chapter 6 Lesson 1 Trig ratio of angle in standard position

I did not cover a lot today, because I know that some people are still working on their exp and log test.  I will continue lesson 1 tomorrow.

Chapter 5 Exponents and Logarithm Unit Test

Hello everyone!  Here is our Chapter 5 Unit Test on Exponents and Logarithm.

When you finish, please hand-in the test electronically.  There is a free app that I have been using called Camscanner.  You might be able to use this app to take photos of your test and it will convert it into a pdf.  I believe some people in our class have been using this app to submit their work.

Reminder:

  • You have 24-hours to complete and submit the test. Due: April 30 before 12:00 pm
  • Please show your full solution for full marks.
  • Please write your full name on each paper that you use.  If you don’t have a printer, you can just write your answer on a piece of paper.
  • You may use your notes during this test.
  • Make sure to double check your work.  Once you submit your test, you will not be able to make any correction and not be able to resubmit.
  • You can do it!

Solution to Review Questions on page 444

Good day everyone!  Yesterday we summarized Chapter 5 Exponents and Logarithm.  As well, we spent some time working out some review questions 1 to 5 found in the book on page 444.  Today we will continue working on the solutions to the review questions.

Here is the livestream key for today:  https://youtu.be/-ndb43BeSU8

Here are the notes that we took today:  Ch 5 Review questions and solutions

I tried going over as much review questions as possible.  If there are other questions that you need help on, please do not hesitate to send me an email at erufo@wsd1.org.

Reminder:  Chapter 5 Exponents and Logarithm Unit Test is on tomorrow, April 29th.

Summary of Exponential and Logarithm Functions and Equations

Good day everyone!  Today we will summarize everything that we learned about Exponential and Logarithm Functions and Equations.

Here is our livestream key for today:  https://youtu.be/EqC6sqP5Ork

Since our chapter 5 test is fast approaching, I did a summary of the whole chapter.  I also went over Review questions on page 444 Questions 1-5.  Please continue working on the review questions and I will go over more review questions.  If you have specific questions that you would like to me to do, please let me know.

Here are the notes that we took today:  chapter 5 summary and review questions 1 to 5 on page 444

Reminder:  our Chapter 5 test is on Wednesday, April 29th.

Chapter 5 Lesson 8 Applications of Exponents and Logarithm (continued)

Good day everyone!  Yesterday we started our notes on applications of exponental and logarithm equations.  Today we will continue our notes on this.

Here is our livestream key for today:  https://youtu.be/gKoLQm1MaSM

Here are the notes that we took today:  Chapter 5 Lesson 8 Application of exp and log (continued)

After our lesson for today, we can spend time on completing any questions on our workbook.  Please make sure to check the solutions which are found in your workbook.  If you have completed all of the assigned practice questions, you can work on the following to help you prepare for our upcoming unit test:

Review Questions on pages 444 to 452

Practice Test on pages 453 to 456

Reminder:  Exponents and Logarithm Unit Test is Wednesday, April 29th.

Chapter 5 Lesson 8: Applications of Exponents and Logarithms

Good day everyone!  Today we will talk about Chapter 5 on Exponents and Logarithms.  We will learn about their applications.  I actually found a graph of COVID-19 in Canada and it resembles logarithm.

Here is the graph that I found:  COVID LOG GRAPH

Since we are approaching the end of the chapter, we will be doing Chapter 5 Test on Wednesday, April 29th.

Chapter 5 Lesson 7 Exponential Equations

Happy Earth day everyone! After our lesson today we could learn about our mother Earth.  Here is a link from Manitoba Museum that we can watch from 12:30 to 1:00 pm Dynamic Earth

Yesterday, we had an opportunity to finish up our practice assignments.  Today we will discuss ways on how to solve exponential equations.  All of the things that we learned before will be used in this lesson, which includes:

  • exponent laws
  • changing exponential to logarithm and vice versa
  • logarithm laws
  • change of base for logarithm
  • solving equation strategies

Let’s get started!

Here are the notes on today’s lesson:  Chapter 5 Lesson 7 Exponential Equations

For practice please work on pg 423 questions 7, 8a, 10, 12, 14, MC 1

If you have any questions you can send me an email or we can communicate through google meet.  Here is the google meet code:  Google Meet PC40S

Chapter 5 Lesson 6 Logarithmic Equations

Welcome back!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Today we will continue learning about solving logarithm equations.

Here is our livestream key for our lesson today:  https://youtu.be/WasOO13nzo0I

If you were watching the livestream, I was informed and am aware that there were issues with the video and the sound.  Let me know if there is something that I covered today that you would like me to explain again.  Also, you could now use google meet as a line of communication.  Check the blog post which contains the google meet information.

Here are the notes that we took today:  Chapter 5 Lesson 6 Logarithm Equations

After our lesson, you can work on your practice assignment on page 422 questions 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 13 and MC 2

Google Meet and Schedule

Hello everyone!  I am adding another way for us to communicate through video conferencing.  You may use this to talk to me if you have any questions.  You have to sign in to your google account. Once you are signed in you can click the link below for google meet.  Finally, click “join now.”

This google meet is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm.  There will be times that I won’t be able to meet with you if I am doing a livestream video.  In that case, please call back again.

This is something that is new to me and continually learning.  I am hoping that this will help us as we take our learning online.
