Chapter 7 Lesson 1 Solving Trigonometric Equations

Hello and welcome!  Yesterday we finished Chapter 6 Part II booklet on graphing trig functions.  In preparation for the upcoming Trig Functions test, you can try questions 9-14 on pages 562-566.  If you have any questions, you can send me an email even on the weekend.  I will check my email on the weekend as well.

Today, we will start Chapter 7 booklet, since we do not have a lot of time left for the course.  We will go over Examples 1-4 where the focus is solving first degree trig equations.  After the lesson we can try questions 4-8 on pages 592-594.

Two Practice Questions for Trig Functions

Hello and welcome! Yesterday we went over Lesson 4 and determined the equation of the given graph.

Today, we can work on two practice questions on two separate handouts.  I will post the complete solution for these two handouts on tomorrow’s blog post.

Determine the Characteristics of Sine and Cosine Functions

Pre-Calculus 40S Practice Graphs of Trig Functions  (Do not do question 7 yet. We can do this question after we go over Lesson 5.)

If you have any questions on the previous questions assigned on pages 534-539, please let me know by email and I will help you out.

Reminder:  Trig Unit Test is on Monday, June 1st.

Note:  Last day of class is June 12th.

Chapter 6 Pt 2 Lesson 4 Determine equation given graphs of sine and cosine

Hello and welcome!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Today we will go over Lesson 4 on determining the equation of a sine and cosine graphs.  After the lesson for today you may work on  the practice questions on page 535 questions 6 and 7.

Chapter 6 Pt 2 Lesson 3 Sketching the graphs of y=sin x and y= cos x

Hello and welcome!  Yesterday we discussed transformation of the sinusoidal functions and we worked on some practice questions.  Today, I will go over some of the questions and then we will proceed to Lesson 3.  In this lesson we will learn how to sketch the graphs of the sinusoidal functions with multiple transformations.  After our lesson we can then work on practice questions starting on page 534 questions 3-5, 8-11 and MC 1&2.

Chapter 6 Pt 2 Lesson 2 Characteristics of the graphs of y=sin x and y= cos x

Hello and welcome!  Yesterday we started Part 2 of our Chapter 6 on graphs of trig functions.  Today we will expand on this topic and discuss the transformation of sine and cosine functions.  We have learned about transformations in previous chapter including vertical strech/compression; horizontal stretch/compression; horizontal and vertical reflection; and horizontal and vertical translation.  We will connect the transformations with the characteristics of sine and cosine functions including amplitude, period, max, min, x- and y-intercepts, domain and range.

Trigonometry Pt 2 Lesson 1 Graphs of y=sin x and y=cos x

Hello and welcome!  Today we will start Chapter 6 Part 2 on Graphing Trigonometric Functions.  This is a very short chapter.  It will take us about 1 week to finish this booklet.  There are a lot of graphing involved in this chapter.  If you need graph paper, you can go to school and pick some up (about 50 graph paper per student), but make sure to call the school before going there.

Today we will learn about how the graphs of sine and cosine function looks like and we will talk about their characteristics including max/min value, amplitude, period, x and y-intercepts, domain and range.
